We do not celebrate Christmas in the religious tradition of the holiday, that would be uncaring to our Jewish and Muslim patients, families, staff and volunteers. We also have a policy of no religious music performed on campus except in the chapel or other appropriate locations.
Now having said that, as a Children's Hospital, we definitely play up the Santa Claus, trees and gift giving side of the holidays. Every patient and siblings of the patient, receive gifts from our sugar plum shop. The parents come and select gifts to give.
We have a holiday event to recognize all faiths the first Friday in December each year for our volunteers. Those who attend get a gift certificate to the hospital gift shop.
