In your hospital, what is the procedure for calling a priest for anointing/last rites for a patient? What department is responsible? Do you have a pastoral program that this falls under?

We do have a group of volunteer chaplains (Rev's, Priests, Eucharistic Ministers, etc.)  We also have a director for the pastoral care department.  Nursing units have direct contact information for the director and assistant director.  "volunteer services" does not get involved with their daily activities, but, serve as the keeper of information so they can utilize the automated sign in system, attend volunteer functions, received e-blasts...but they ultimately fall under a seperate department.

I have a volunteer chaplain, who coordinates with other chaplains in the area to develop an on call list.  The list is updated monthly and posted on our Intranet for any staff member to reference.  I do very little with this process, except to clear new chaplains who want to be on call and post the next month's assignments.
