Background Check Fees

    I am curious to see who pays for your volunteer background checks? Volunteer, Volunteer Dept, HR? Thanks!

    Thanks! The Volunteer Dept here currently pays this fee. Are you each a part of the HR Department? We are listed under Foundation/Marketing

    We process and pay for our own background checks through the volunteer office budget.  The HR check is much more in-depth and expensive than our needs.

    I have an account with the state Police and can run a court records check in about 48 hours.  We are charged $16 per record as a non-profit.  This also includes a sex offender name check.

    Our department budget comes through the hospital budget, but I report to the SVP of Mission, which is a shared health system department.

    Our HR Department does the checks and the cost comes out of their budget.

    HR pays for ours as well.  I don't even see the results.  I'm just told "yes" or "no".  If the candidate has an issue with being refused due to the background check, then they have to go to HR about it.

    HR pays for our background checks, I don't see them unless there is a problem.  I report to the CEO.
