Just curious what different types of in house recruitment your hospital uses for volunteers? We are not allowed to hang flyers on walls due to paint so I am looking for creative ways to advertise our needs. Thanks!

I can use the newsletter, our web site, the meditec opening screen, and live radio spots.  I have a Volunteer newsletter separate from the employee one that I can use as well.  Our "huddle" information is the best way to reach everyone in our system.  Everyone must attend a department huddle every day and I can have stuff put in there relevant to my needs.

I have developed a brochure that I place in every waiting area, at the information desk and in the ER in clear holders.

I send emails to all dept heads.  I also use my newsletter.  However, my volunteers are my best recruiters.  Like the idea of the brochure.

I wish I had something new and inovative, but I use the same as listed above...newsletter hospital and volunteer, brochure (had printed by outside source), plasic stands with insert (I place in waiting rooms for a week or two every month or so), in house email system, website, in house TV sceens (public areas), current volutneers in placements and I go to every retirement party hosted by the hospital.  I have a few departments within the hospital that do mass mailings for a variety of different things, so I place a brochure in the mailing as well.

Which of the above provides the most success?  My current volunteers, volunteering in their placements.  I would say a min of monthly they phone me to their area or bring someone to me who has an interest or they have chatted volunteering at our hospital up:)

An idea---and no we aren't doing this either, but I am going to investigate---what about having a question regarding interest in volunteering on the patient satisfaction survey?  It might get some volunteers from those who had a great experience at your hospital or at least plant the seed for them to consider in the future.

And it is basically free, because all of our facilities are doing the surveys.
