For those of you that have a Comfort Cart, can you please share your service description with me, along with a list of items you have on your cart. In addition, how do you fund these items. Thank you!

we have named them Ambassador carts.  Volunteers go room to room stopping to see  patients.  Cart content for inpatient:  magazines, crosswords, writing pens; adult color books; hand sanitizer, rosary beads & religious literature (if requested), nail files, hair brush/comb, hair ties, mini packs of tissue with the volunteer services logo and phone number on it.  for the nursery area we added children's bibles in Spanish & English(donated), pacifiers, baby blankets/hats (handmade donated); certificate for Dolly Paton Imagination Library and a discount coupon to our gift shop.  we keep stats on inpatient visits.  Allow $500 in my budget from the hospital but, request Auxiliary to fund if able vs hospital.

Our Comfort Care Cart, is for patient family members. It's for those patients who are in their final demise. Depending on how many family members determines what we put on the cart. We received a grant to help with the funding of the cart. We now have two carts. I have attached a picture of the cart and my staff. This was taken to sent as a thank you after we received the grant. I will also forward the list that we use for items on the cart. We send the supply list to the cafe and they bill Guest Services for the items. After each use, we sanitize the cart, and get it ready for the next time. We use it on the in-patient floors and in the ED. It's much appreciated and needed during a very difficult time. Let me know if you need anything else. Generally the house nurse supervisor alerts us that the cart is needed.
