    Hi All,

Our hospital has an active volunteer base with approximately (94) volunteers.  We love to express our appreciation for our volunteers.  I am somewhat new to this field; and my question is as follows: other than banquets and luncheons can any of you share with me how your organization may recognize your volunteers? Currently, we have an Annual Award Ceremony; but we are interested in implementing other alternatives as well (possibly newsletters, plaques etc?)

We have a central office where volunteers sign in.  Treats such as candy, cookies are provided for major holidays - Valentine's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas.  Just did one for fun.  "Our Volunteers are Worth a Fortune" and put out a big bowl of fortune cookies - bought them by the case from a local Chinese Restaurant $12 for the entire case which lasted a couple of weeks.  Plan on doing one for "Thanks a Mint" for all you do with a bowl of mints...Annually recognize by putting engraved leaf on a commissioned sculpture of a palmetto tree in our main lobby recognizing 10, 20, 30 years of service. Cake, cookies and punch are served and Administrators & family come to honor the volunteers.   Christmas Card with leather bound pocket calendar.  Delane Pen from Amsterdam at Annual training engraved with Volunteer Services.  Hand sanitizer and lip balm with volunteer services inscription was a big hit.  A remembrance service is held and all are invited to remember those who have passed.  This is coordinated with our Pastoral Services department.  Names are placed on a plaque in the volunteer service lobby area.
