Volunteer returning after dismissal

    Has anyone allowed a volunteer to return after being dismissed from the program?

    Absolutely not.  Dismissal is a process with plenty of time to correct behaviors built in before termination.

    I would say it depends on the reason for dismissal.  For example a HIPAA violation, certainly no.  A college student dismissed for not being regular in attendance and meeting your minimum number of hours, who later applies as an adult volunteer, then yes.

    No I don't take them back. We do not dismiss volunteers often and when we do it is such a time consuming process. I do suggest other opportunities to volunteer in our community, just not here.

    I agree with Regina.  It's rare that we have to dismiss a volunteer, it would not happen without good reason.

    When we have dismissed a volunteer, which has been seldom, it has been for just cause and we would not take them back.

    If they were dismissed from the program, we follow HR practices for eligibility of rehire. Most are not eligible, but some guidelines state that they are eligible for "rehire" after a certain length of time and milestones. If an employee would be eligible for rehire, we would allow the volunteer to reapply.
