We are all seeing challenges in filling our assignments.  Today in my meeting with my VP it was strongly suggested we use high school students to fill the gaps.  So - I am reaching out to you who are doing this or thinking about it with some questions.

Are you using high school students in traditional volunteer assignments?

    How old?

How do you handle supervision in the evening or on weekends?

Do they serve the traditional three or four hour shift during school hours?

Do you allow them access to census data?

How does your legal department feel about the Loco Parentis laws - HIPAA - risk management - and teens?

And, of course any other hints, ideas, suggestions, support or cautiions would be very gratefully received.

We do not use teens to fill in our traditional volunteer assignment during the school year.  We do not accept teens during the school year at all unless they are volunteering during school hours.
