Polytheoretics Closing - Owner of Provelle

I found out today that Patrick Williams the President and Owner of Polytheoretics passed away unexpectedly back in June.  I found this out from his wife upon a phone call that I made to him today.  His wife is in the proecess of closing the business so if you use the Provelle Volunteer Management software you will no longer have support.  Below is an email that his wife sent to his customers that explains how to convert Provelle data in case you decide to purchase new software.  I did not receive this email until I spoke with her today so I thought I would share it just in case there were others out there that didn't receive the email.  I am so saddened by this news and I am sure everyone that did business with Patrick will be saddened  as well.

It is with great sadness that I must tell you that Patrick Williams passed away very suddenly last month. Patrick designed the ProVelle software and took great pride in answering each phone call and email personally. He enjoyed helping his clients and spoke often of the friends he had made through ProVelle. Unfortunately, customer service will have to be suspended due to this circumstance.

In his files I found the following information, which may be useful if you choose to transition to another volunteer management system:

How customers can export ProVelle data to another application

Create reports that cover the needed data (e.g., List/Volunteer List/*, List/Work hours, Summary/Vol Work Totals/Archived & Current Totals) and copy them to a compatible spreadsheet (e.g., Microsoft Excel) via the Windows clipboard. The detailed instructions for effecting this are in the Provelle User Manual, but a brief outline is given here:

    1.     Create Report

    2.     Highlight Report

    3.     Press Cntrl-c

    4.     Exit Provelle

    5.     Launch Excel

    6.     Press Cntrl-v

    7.     The report will be pasted into Excel. Then it can be manipulated as desired and saved in a format compatible with the new application.

I hope you will find this helpful.

    Sincerely,

    Martha Williams (Mrs. Patrick Williams)

I had no idea. We've used Patrick for years. Thanks for sending this out. I was not contacted and would have had no idea without your post. Thanks!
