one of our staff members brought forth an idea following the donation request for gently used clothing items for our Care Closet.   She wants me to add  men's suits for the purpose of funeral attire along with my newly appointed project : the Care Closet.   Wanted to know if anyone has something similar and how you handle.   thank you!!!

We have a closet of clothing items, primarily for those who came to us through the ED and do not have clothing to wear home.  The auxiliary purchases undergarments and socks. Other items preferred for donations include sweatpants and t-shirts of all sizes.

We do not keep or accept suits for burial. I think our local funeral homes do something like that.

We also would not accept suits for burial! I think that is outside the scope of what a general clothing closet should be.

In my opinion, if people want to donate suits for burial, they should either go to local funeral homes OR the Decedent Affairs office at your facility. I will say in my 10 years here I've never had anyone (internally or a patient's family member) inquire about needing a suit, nor has anyone tried to donate one for this purpose.

We do not do the suits either.  Our Community Benefits Department purchases t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants for our clothing closets.
