I would be interested in hearing what you or your facility did for IVMD.  Also did someone do it on their own, or did you have to remind them.

At Children's of Alabama, I sent out an announcement (one of the documents from the website - the miracle worker poster) to all mail users and this is one of the replies I received:

On behalf of Surgical Services, THANK YOU for all that you do. You are the glue that helps us do our job better. Have a great week.

    Subject: Volunteer Managers Day

11/5/12 is International Volunteer Managers Day

It is the day to recognize the work of the professional volunteer staff.  Volunteers are recognized in the spring during National Volunteer Week, but the staff is recognized in the fall.

Got your email card and appreciated it.  Also our Auxiliary President sent us a card.

Our new Administrative Director took us out to lunch (all 4 DVS's from the hospitals, the hospice staff and several assistants).  We did have to explain the event to him and good-naturedly argued about the legitimacy of the "holiday" since the only "support material" we had on it was a website.

Once he realized it wasn't just a "healthcare volunteer" thing, he improved.
